Kept the kids home from school and I'm not planning on sending them back for a while. 2 staff members have the virus and have been put on administrative leave. No reports of children getting it but i'm not taking any chances. I have been pretty lucky myself that I haven't been exposed. I do run the childcare but because of what my job entails, I don't have as much direct contact with the children as my teachers do. I'm worried for them. All precautions have been put in place for everyone's protection but there are way to many ways of getting this thing. Symptoms start out as a slight rash and soon itching increases and a painful welt, which seems to weep and ooz. It looks like a normal staff infection but then it increases in severity, causing fever and flu like symptoms. After that the infection seems to just ravage the body. The older the victim the more sever. Lots of children hospitalized and the direct care givers are becoming infected. Got a notice from the CDC that if a direct bite is given from one of the ill get medical attention immediately and it needs to be reported to them. WIsh my higher ups would think about closing the center for a few days..but they keep saying too many children need daycare. Parents gotta work.. more like they don't wanna miss their quarter bonuses from our headquarters..children equal money in their eyes.. it's crazy!
Oh gotta run.. a child just bit another child.. let's see what this entails..
